Here is a quick guide for the fantastic Autodesk Fusion 360 Configuration add in, which allows users to save various configurations of a model with either modified suppression states or parametric edits. This can be useful for saving a few different variations of a product as normally this would be manual.
To get started, you just have to obtain the free Configuration download.
Once it is downloaded, extract the files to the following path for Windows: C:/Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/Autodesk/Autodesk Fusion 360/API/AddIns
After that, go to Fusion 360 and click add-ins – on the add-ins menu click the plus next to my add ins.
Select the configsaver folder and click select folder. Config Saver should now appear in the add-ins list and you can select run.
Now that the add in is enabled it will appear to the right of the display panel with a dropdown menu. Simply configure your Fusion 360 model into a variation that you wish to save by editing parameters and/or suppressing features. Select the dropdown and select save configuration. Type in a configuration name and choose whether to save dimensions and suppression states.
Once you have saved all the states you want for the model, you can simply select switch configuration to swap between your model variations.
The configurations are all saved within the one Fusion 360 file so this will not add extra files to your project. If you want the configurations to show up a drawing, the model will need to be saved in that configuration for it to reflect on the drawing. It is probably best to save in that way so that the state can remain associative to the drawing.
