How To Add A Glass Clamp Special Part To The Graitec PowerPack Railing Macro

A unique feature of the Graitec PowerPack Railing macro is the inclusion of Advance Steel special parts for infill panels, which are typically associated with the Glass Panel type. The macro includes some special parts for these Clamp fittings, however users may wish to create and add their own from supplier driven files. In this tutorial we will demonstrate how the user would look to achieve that.

The Railing macro uses special parts, and these are added and linked using a PowerPack tool, the Special Part Manager. This tool allows the user to link to a 3D solids DWG file so that it may be used as a special part within the Railing macro dialog. The process to add in the Clamp part has several stages that the user must follow to allow the part to work correctly within the Railing tool. Therefore to help our customers we have created a series of video guides combined with a How To Do guide for the process.

Here’s a tip for the users, during the process of writing this guide we found an interesting AutoCAD System Variable INSBASE. This variable allows for the part to have an in built offset and although this isn’t obvious to the user it can cause the special parts to become offset from where the user wishes them to be inserted. We discuss this and explain how to check and correct this so that it does not cause an issue with the railings, as this is typically found when dealing with Third Party 3D CAD files that may have this set in the background.
