How To Use Enhanced MEP Fabrication Parts In Revit

Since the introduction of the fabrication tools into Autodesk Revit 2016, they have been steadily developed over the years and the 2019.2 update for Revit is no exception. In this article we will look at the subtle but useful enhancements that are now available.

The screenshot below shows a Lindab curved boot tapping off a Ø200mm circular duct; you can see the product entry on the properties palette indicates the size as 160×200. If you now select the highlighted grip and drag it onto a duct of another size, the product entry will automatically update.

In the example below, I’ve moved the boot onto the smaller Ø160mm duct and the Product Entry has updated to 160×160.

Connecting Off-Centre Branches

When using the multi-point routing or trim/extend tool to connect a branch with a slightly different offset to the main, the branch will connect to the main without bends or transitions – see below example.

The outcome can be seen below. The previous version results are on the left and the 2019.2 updated version on the right when connecting the branch in to the main run.
