Eurometallica Costruzioni in Acciaio

Eurometallica Costruzioni in Acciaio is an Italian company based in Pettinengo (Biella), specializing in steel construction for civil and industrial buildings. The company provides a complete service — from design to production and installation.

For the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Village, Eurometallica chose Autodesk Advance Steel together with the GRAITEC PowerPack for Advance Steel, which enhanced the software’s capabilities and accelerated the design process.
From design to fabrication and installation, the software supported every stage of the project, ensuring precision, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Milan – Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics

The XXV Olympic Winter Games, known as Milan-Cortina 2026, will take place from February 6 to 22, 2026, followed by the Paralympic Games from March 6 to 15, 2026.

The event will be hosted across several locations in northern Italy, with competitions spread between Lombardy, Veneto, and Trentino-Alto Adige.

Milan, Cortina d’Ampezzo, and other Alpine venues will host some of the most spectacular winter sports, including alpine skiing, biathlon, ice skating, ice hockey, and snowboarding, among others.

The Opening Ceremony on February 6 will mark the beginning of the Olympic celebrations, culminating with the Closing Ceremonies of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Project Highlights

The Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Village is a highly complex project that has seen Eurometallica Costruzioni in Acciaio involved in the construction of several major steel structures.

Among these, the most notable include:

  • the roofs of buildings A, B, and C,
  • the balcony railings of the East and West bridges,
  • the external stair railings of the East and West bridges,
  • the facade cables and internal stair railings.

Technology Used

To tackle the complexity of the project, Eurometallica chose to use Autodesk Advance Steel, a 3D design software, for creating detailed 3D models and exporting technical drawings.

Thanks to Advance Steel and the GRAITEC PowerPack plugin, the team was able to produce highly detailed, realistic models, allowing them to visualize the entire project in 3D before actual construction. The ability to automatically generate precise fabrication drawings facilitated the transition from digital model to component production, reducing both time and the risk of errors.

Challenges Encountered During the Project and How They Were Overcome

The main challenges faced during the project involved managing the wide range of products to be fabricated. The complexity and number of components, each with specific characteristics, could have created difficulties in organizing and coordinating subsequent phases.

However, the Eurometallica team successfully addressed these challenges through accurate numbering of parts and well-organized batch management from the very beginning. This approach enabled effective control over every element of the project, ensuring the correct production and assembly sequence and minimizing the risk of errors or delays.

The combination of detailed planning and advanced technological support made it possible to complete all structures efficiently and in a coordinated manner, from the digital model to on-site installation.

Benefits Gained from Using Graitec/Autodesk Technologies

The adoption of Advance Steel and GRAITEC/Autodesk technologies brought significant advantages in terms of precision, efficiency, and collaboration.

  • The realistic 3D visualization of the model allowed the team to anticipate the final appearance of the structures, facilitating overall project understanding and improving communication between departments. This helped increase the level of detail and accuracy of the models, reduce design errors, and enhance the effectiveness of fabrication drawings.
  • The compatibility and widespread use of Autodesk software ensured seamless file sharing, simplifying collaboration between internal and external teams, and allowing clear data interpretation without the need for manual conversions or corrections.

Thanks to these technologies, Eurometallica was able to combine efficiency, control, and quality, successfully completing a complex project like the Olympic Village with precision and professionalism, meeting deadlines and delivering a high-quality final result.
