Her transdisciplinary approach puts local communities at the heart of each project, proving that architecture can drive social and economic change. Marie and Keith ZAWISTOWSKI, architects, founders of onSITE (France and USA);Marie and Keith Zawistowski bring a committed, bicultural vision to architecture, rooted in the belief that design can improve lives. Trained under Samuel Mockbee at the Rural Studio, they blend hands-on building with architectural theory to reshape how architecture serves communities and education. As co-founders of designbuildLAB, they unite students, professionals, and local leaders to co-create meaningful, real-world projects. After five impactful years at Virginia Tech, the program now thrives at the Grenoble National School of Architecture, fostering sustainable, community-driven design through inclusive, cross-disciplinary collaboration. |

Andrea GEBHARD, geographer, sociologist, urban and landscape planner, founder of m• g • k mahl gebhard konzepte (Germany).Munich-based urban planner and landscape architect Andrea Gebhard champions the integration of nature into cities. With a background in geography and sociology, she believes sustainable design must go beyond buildings—embracing local geography, climate, and ecosystems from the start. A leader in shaping urban planning standards, she advocates for mandatory green plans in all development projects and works to improve public space quality amid growing urban density. As president of the German Federal Chamber of Architects since 2021, her influence spans local to national levels, promoting resilient, people-centered urban landscapes. |

The Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ was founded in 2006 by architect and researcher Jana Revedin. It promotes the principles of sustainable development and a participatory approach to architecture in both the North and South of the planet. The Global Award Symposium is placed under UNESCO’s patronage. The Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ has in 2024 85 laureates from all over the world who share the ethos of sustainable architecture.
This community pursues research, experimentation, and transmission in the fields of architecture, urban renewal, and academic social responsibility. As a sign of its pioneering role, five winning architects or teams have since been awarded the prestigious Pritzker Prize: Wang Shu (GA 2007, Pritzker 2012), Alejandro Aravena (GA 2008, Pritzker 2016), Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi (GA 2007, Pritzker 2018), Anne Lacaton & Jean-Philippe Vassal (GA 2018, Pritzker 2021) et Diébédo Francis Kéré (GA 2009, Pritzker 2022).
